Thank you for your interest in Pack 905. We are a Cub Scout pack welcoming children in elementary school (K-5) in the Sterling, VA area that want to learn about the outdoors, leadership, and citizenship. The Pack operates out of both Algonkian Elementary School and Sterling Volunteer Fire Department and is chartered by Sterling Volunteer Fire department. We are an active Pack with approximately 50 scouts across all elementary grade levels.
Cub scouts is divided into two groups: the Pack, which is the full group across all grade levels and the Dens which is the grade-level group that does activities to work toward badges together.
The Pack meets the first Thursday of every month at Algonkian ES during the school year. The Dens meet approximately every other Sunday in the afternoon during the school year. It's ok if you can't make every meeting! The activities needed for advancement are easy to make up.
As a Pack, we also go camping twice a year (the leaders are all experienced campers and make this an easy introduction for many families that may have never experienced tent camping), schedule hikes, hold a pinewood derby, a rain gutter regatta, and participate in service projects such as Scouting for Food and neighborhood cleanups.
